Studying Buddhism
The Foundation Programme
provides an opportunity to deepen our understanding and experience
of Buddhism through a systematic study of six texts.
There are three reasons why we need to study and practise the
teachings of Buddha:
1) To develop our
wisdom
2) To cultivate a good
heart
3) To maintain a peaceful state
of mind
Foundation Programme at Atisha Buddhist Centre is a unique way to
study Buddhism
- gaining deep, personal insights into the teachings whilst having
fun and making friends at the same time!
We currently have two Foundation Programmes to choose from;
Saturdays studying
Joyful Path of Good Fortune
Or
Mondays and Thursdays studying
Eight Steps to Happiness
Enrollment is required - try a FREE two week taster.

Teaching Skills Class
Sunday 10th February
11 am - 12.30 pm
This class is open to both those who already
teach our meditation classes and also anyone who is interested in
teaching in the near or distant future. During the class, Chödor
will give a short talk on how to improve our teaching skills. Then
a branch teacher (selected in advance) will give a short teaching
and receive constructive feedback from the rest of the
group.
Feedback is generally related to posture, body
language, physical habits etc, not the teaching content. There's
also time at the end for discussion and asking
questions.
There's no charge for this class and although
there's no need to book, it would be helpful if you could let Debbs
know if you're coming so we have enough printouts if any are
done.
Please let
Chödor know in advance
any areas you'd like him to cover.

at
Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre
Another World - Inner Journey
to peace and purity
Weekend Course
15 - 17 February 2008
Buddha explained clearly that there is no
creator other than mind; ultimately everything, including our
world, is produced from mental activity. Our present world of
contamination and fear is the creation of the impure minds that
perceive it.
Through understanding the conventional and
ultimate nature of our own mind on this course we shall learn how
to leave behind forever this impure world and reach another world
of freedom and real happiness for everyone.
Please contact the centre to arrange car sharing.
