November 2007

We should not allow a gulf to develop between our meditation and our daily life, because the success of our meditation depends upon the purity of our conduct outside the meditation session.

Directors Corner

Hi All!

Building of our extension finally gets under way in November this year. This is for a new dining room that can hold 30 people and a new kitchen.  Planning permission has been accepted by Darlington Borough Council, and we hope to commence work in a couple of weeks.

Naturally, time, energy and finances are needed so if you can help out in any way, please contact me at the Centre.  Does anyone know a Registered electrician? Also we need a plumber, and a cheap but good quality kitchen fitter.

You are all invited to sponsor / donate towards a particular part of the refurbishment. Perhaps an area which you feel really needs doing or one which you know you would like to get involved with.  Below are details of the refurbishment and how you can help out:

Buy Atisha Centre:

Boiler £3000

Other

Pointing of external brickwork £100

Are there any other suggestions?

Please do consider helping out.

Many thanks Mike x

Medicine Buddha is a Buddha Doctor whose function is to release living beings from outer and inner sickness. By relying upon the practice of Medicine Buddha sincerely, living beings can be cured of heavy physical and mental sickness, and find release from the internal pain of the delusions. Everyone is welcome to this weekend course where we will be making a strong connection with Medicine Buddha in order to receive his special blessings and empowerment. The weekend will include a special blessing ceremony on the Saturday followed by a commentary to the practice of the Medicine Buddha Sadhana

Meditation Classes
every week throughout
the area

We have one new class this month - in Hartlepool starting on Friday 16th November with Kelsang Chödor; please use the link below to find out more details.

All of our General Programme classes now run in a new format. They are now only an hour and a half in length. They start with a guided meditation to relax, followed by a 20-25 minute talk. A guided meditation based on the nights topic is followed by a short period for discussion and questions.

The classes now run every week instead of in terms so it's easier to know when classes are on.

We hope that people will enjoy these changes, and encourage you all to come and experience them.

In general everyone needs to practise moral discipline because it is the root of all future happiness. The Bodhisattva’s moral discipline however is a higher moral discipline and the main path that leads to the ultimate happiness of great enlightenment.
Make the New Year a special year by taking the Bodhisattva Vows and practising to the best of our ability the Bodhisattva’s meaningful way of life.
