“We need to create virtuous or positive actions because these are the root of our future happiness; we need to abandon non-virtuous or negative actions because these are the root of our future sufferings: and we need to control our delusions because these are the root of our contaminated rebirths.”

 NKT Festivals

Each year Kadampa Buddhist Centers around the world organize large International Dharma Festivals and Celebrations in various countries.

These events are special spiritual vacations, when thousands of people - including over 500 Buddhist monks and nuns - gather from around the world to receive Buddhist teachings directly from the Spiritual Director of NKT, the Buddhist Master Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Deputy Spiritual Director, Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab, or from the National Spiritual Directors

The Festivals and celebrations provide a wonderful opportunity to contemplate and meditate on these teachings in guided meditation retreats, and to discuss them with spiritual friends - from beginners to those who have been practicing Buddhism for many years.

(Evening Only)

Everybody welcome

Have you already heard of Tantra? Now find out what it actually means. The real meaning of our human life is finding and following the correct path to enlightenment, and the supreme correct path is Highest Yoga Tantra. Tantra is the actual method for attaining enlightenment. All other meditations and practices are foundations for training in Tantra. In this evening class Kelsang Chödor will give a stimulating introduction to these secret practices - an ideal preparation for those who would like to receive the empowerment of Vajrayogini in Singapore.

Renovations at Atisha Centre
Gompa Refurbishents
Gompa Refurbishents

The Meditation room is now redecorated – thanks to everyone who helped (especially Rick). Work will be starting on refurbishing the bathrooms at Atisha Centre within the next few weeks. If you have any skills that would be helpful and would like to offer your time (even if it's just helping clear away rubbish or clean them once they're finished!) please get in touch with the Centre either by Email or phone numbers below.

Directors Corner

Did you know there is a management team at the Centre?:

Resident Teacher:  Kelsang Chödor - presenting Buddha's teachings in the Centre and in our local area.

EPC (Education Programme Coordinator):  Debbs Kefford - the promotion and running of the education programmes at the Centre (teachings and pujas)

Administrative Director (AD):  Mike Whitaker - the business/secular side of the Centre,

Treasurer: Kath Round - deals with the petty cash and finances.

So if you have a query: spiritual and meditation matters can go to Kelsang Chödor, anything related to the education programme to Debbs, admin stuff to me and money to me or Kath.  We are all available to listen to you.

Also, you may not know that as a registered charity we have trustees/directors of the charity who are legally responsible for the Centre. Next month I would like to talk a little about our directors/trustees and how it is possible for you to become a member of Atisha Centre.

Finally, let us not forget the spiritual director of Atisha Centre - Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso who through his great kindness and wisdom has provided us with all the necessary techniques to attain lasting inner peace and happiness.

Mike Whitaker
Administrative Director
