Dear Friends of Atisha Centre

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very meaningful New Year.  May all your wishes be fulfilled and everything be auspicious.  Next year is going to be a very active year for everyone here.  We are planning to make some important refurbishments to the centre to benefit visitors and residents.  This will require a lot of hard work so please see if you can spare a little time or money to help us all make 2007 the best year yet.

With lots of love and peace.

Joyful Path of Good Fortune

Lamrim Retreat

3rd - 17th January 2007

Lamrim is a special presentation of the stages of the path to enlightenment.

Geshe-la says in Joyful Path of Good Fortune
“The practice of Lamrim is very important because everyone needs to cultivate peaceful states of mind. By listening to or reading these teachings we can learn how to control our mind and always keep a good motivation in our heart. This will make all our daily actions pure and meaningful. By controlling our mind we can solve all our daily problems, and by gradually improving our daily practice of Lamrim we can advance from our present stage to the stage of a Bodhisattva. By progressing further we can become a fully enlightened being. This is the essential meaning of our human life. Such a great attainment will be the result of our practice of Lamrim.”

During this retreat we will engage in the twenty-one Lamrim meditations in the New Meditation Handbook, thereby gaining familiarity with every stage of the path to enlightenment.

Each session will consist of preparatory prayers, study time and meditation. Extensive commentaries to the Lamrim meditations can be found in Joyful Path of Good Fortune.

Session times: 7.30am, 11am, 4pm, 7.30pm

Session times may change due to classes and Puja’s so please check your January calendar.

All sessions are free of charge - donations are very welcome.

MERIT 100 CLUB

A New Way Of Supporting Atisha Centre

The Merit 100 Club is a novel way of helping the Centre to flourish by giving money on a monthly basis. The Club is limited to 100 people and the minimum monthly donation is £10. Payments are made by standing order.

Atisha Centre does not rely on any central funds or resources to support its activities. Although the centre receives income from rents and course fees this is never enough to cover our outgoings.

Every year we rely on individual donations from kind benefactors. Every penny is spent wisely and as a registered charity (No. 1013466) we can reclaim the tax on your donation if you are in employment.

Your money is needed to maintain and improve the facilities at the Centre and it will also enable us to run and promote meditation classes throughout the region bringing Dharma to those who desperately need it.
