Help Chödor Get To The New York Festival

Kelsang Chodor

From October 18th - 25th, 2006, Geshe-la will be teaching and granting the empowerment of Medicine Buddha in New York. It will also be a wonderful opportunity to attend the opening of the new Kadampa Temple.

Our resident teacher, Kelsang Chödor, will be attending the whole of the Festival to receive blessings and teachings directly from the wisdom Buddha Dorjechang Kelsang Gyatso. How long shall any of us have this incredible good fortune to receive teachings from a perfectly qualified Vajra master?

The Festival including flights will cost around £700, not that much to pay for the priceless gift of Dharma.

In order to help Chödor with the cost, we are asking for people to donate whatever they can afford.

By doing this you will be creating an enormous amount of benefit for yourself and the centre in life after life.

Chödor would also like to inspire others to go with him (otherwise he will have to carry his own luggage.

If you can help in any way Helen, our Administration Director will quickly and efficiently process all of your donations.

Guru Yoga & Mandala Retreat

Sunday 8th October - 14th October
   Mandala
The retreat starts at 8 pm on the 7th October with a FREE introductory teaching by Kelsang Chödor.

Retreat sessions are normally at 7.30 am; 11.00 am; 4.00 pm & 7.30 pm. Please check our monthly calendar nearer the time for specific daily times.

Guru Yoga is a special method for receiving the blessings of our Spiritual Guide. Our Spiritual Guide is any Spiritual Teacher who sincerely leads us into spiritual paths by giving correct instructions. All schools of Buddhism agree that the practice of Guru Yoga, or relying upon a Spiritual Guide, is the root of the spiritual path and the foundation of all spiritual attainments.

The word ‘Mandala’ in this context means ‘universe’. When we offer a Mandala to the holy beings we are offering everything - the whole universe with all it’s objects and all the beings who inhabit it. We mentally transform the whole universe into a Pure Land and imagine that all its inhabitants are pure beings and that all it’s objects are precious substances. We then imagine that we are offering this pure universe in our hands.

These two practices are very powerful methods for receiving blessings from all enlightened beings and for accumulating a great stock of merit or positive mental energy. They will be done in conjunction with the prayers Offering to the Spiritual Guide.

No experience necessary and no need to book. Come to one or all sessions.

All retreats are FREE of charge to attend - although donations are welcome !
