Empowerments

An empowerment is a very beautiful ceremony in which we will make a special and close connection with a particular Buddha.  This will enable us to swiftly receive their blessings and thus gain inner realizations and experience of their particular practice.

Pujas - Chanted Meditations

The chanted meditations at Atisha Centre, known as ‘pujas’, and follow a range of Buddhist prayer booklets prepared by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and published by Tharpa Publications. These prayer booklets, known as sadhanas, can also be used for individual practice and are available from our book shop.

Engaging in pujas is a special method for purifying negativity, accumulating merit and receiving blessings. It helps us to develop and maintain a positive mind, and is a powerful preparation for meditation.

Everyone is welcome to attend all the pujas apart from Highest Yoga Tantra pujas,
which are for practitioners only.

Retreats

Retreats are an opportunity to spend an extended time focusing on a particular practice. Previous experience of the practices would therefore be useful. They are very precious opportunities in the year for us to break away from the usual tasks of everyday life in order to gain deeper experience of the teachings.
